7dayjuicedetox

So last week, I went on a 7 day juice detox.

What lead you into doing a Juice Detox?

I have wanted to do a detox for the past couple of months.  I just never mustered up the guts to do it.  I would have soooo many cravings for food.   The past two months, I haven’t been doing well at all with eating healthy.  Also, started noticing my energy levels dropping, tremendously.  The last straw that put me over and I had enough was when I was massaging two of my clients the week before, their energy drained me so bad that I damn near fell asleep on them.  I said, that was it!!! I had to do something to restart my energy.

I was doing my research on doing a Juice Detox and found many pros and cons.  I decided to think about my how my body reacts and what my body needs.  Then I saw fit for me to embark on this 7 day journey.  I wanted to try it, I wanted to see what it was really going to do for me.   I found justonjuice.com and used some of their recipes that they suggested in their juice fast.  Also, I referenced Micheal Olivers’, The Green Juice Detox Diet

Before I began my juicing experience,  I did totally opposite of what the book told me to do.  I was supposed to cut myself off of certain foods leading up to the 1st day of the detox.  That didn’t happen!!!!  I did, drink a laxative tea, Smooth Move, before I started the night before.   Also, to prepare myself, I made sure to go to the grocery store with my list of fruits and vegetables I needed.  When I walked in the store, I made a promise that I wasn’t going to go over $50 the first trip.  Also, take note, make more than one trip to the store for your produce because you don’t want it to go bad.   I made two separate trips to the store which allowed me not to spend more than $50 the first time.

My weight before Juice Detox – 154.8

Day 1

I was up early that morning because the tea I drunk the night before was doing its work on me!  So once finished I prepared my first juice.

7:00 am Apple, Cucumber, Pear, Grape, Spinach & Kale 16 oz

1:30 pm Kale, Celery, Apple, Cucumber, 1/4 peeled Lemon 16 oz

7:00 pm Apple Celery, Kale, Ginger Root, Grape, Cucumber, Spinach, Carrot 16 oz

8:50 pm same juice as above @ 7pm 12 oz

In between those times, I drunk lots and lots of water.  Also, right after drinking the juice, I had a 16 oz glass of water.    I also, added 1 part water to 3 part juice.

Day 1 was pretty rough for me,  I couldn’t think straight and was EXTREMELY hungry!  I can remember being on the phone with daughter and not really being able to focus on the conversation.  I may have been a little moody as well.  I made sure to go to bed early that night.

Day 2

9:15 am Warm Lemon Water

10:30 am Apple, Kale, Blueberry, Grape, Ginger, Cucumber 12 oz

11:20 am Tomato, 1/4 Lemon, Basil, Garlic   2 double shots

12:26 pm Warm Jasmine Green Tea

2:00 pm Juice left over from 10:30am 12 oz

9:15 pm Beet, Cucumber, 1/4 lemon, 1/4 lime, carrot, kale 24 oz

In between those times, I drunk lots and lots of water.  Also, right after drinking the juice, I had a 16 oz glass of water.    I also, added 1 part water to 3 part juice.

Day 2 was better than the first.  I was hungry but not as bad.  The large gap between 2:00-9:15 was rough, but I kept drinking water to hold me over.   I massaged for 2 1/2 hours so that kept me pretty occupied and mind off of everything.  Luckily, I didn’t have to do too much deep pressure on my clients so it was light and easy day.  Take note that this day was my first day EVER juicing beets.  I made sure to clean them like I was supposed to and removed the leafy part and stem.  I did not peel the Beet and I can truly say, my last drink of the night taste like pure dirt!!!  I was about to throw all the 4 little beets I had left away, but thanks to some of my IG followers, I got some helpful tips.  Especially to peel the beet before juicing it…lol

Day 3

9:00 am Warm Lemon Water

9:38 am Apple, Spinach, Ginger 6 oz

10:16 am tbsp Black Strap Molasses

10:30 am Apple, Orange, Pineapple, Lemon, Ginger, Cucumber, Carrot, Kale, Spinach 12 oz

1:30 pm Same as above 12 oz

10 pm Apple, Blueberry, Cucumber, Kale, Grapes, Ginger 16 oz

Today was by far the roughest day ever.  I made sure to drink my juice & water throughout the day but realized I didn’t bring enough with me.   I had a day full of massages and had some errands to run.   I thought the juices and waters were going to last for the time period I was away from the house and thought wrong.  Not only was I not giving my body enough nourishment and water, where I was giving massages was extremely hot.  Not only that, these clients that I worked on, likes very DEEP PRESSURE & STRETCHING.  My body did not react to the heat, heavy activity and no food very well.  If you notice that gap between the times, that was my rough spot, I HAD to stop and put something solid in my mouth.  I tried to find juice bars where I was located and couldn’t find any.  I stopped and got a mozzarella, Spinach & Roasted Tomato Panini & only ate what was inside.  Did not eat the bread & drunk plenty of water.    Once I made it home I sat down for a second and was able to drink my other juice I left in the fridge.   Right After that I crashed so hard and did not move off the couch.

4:00 pm Beet, Apple 8 oz

8:22 pm Spinach, Celery, Apples, Cherries 8.5 oz

9:45 pm  Ate Cucumbers & tomatoes in Apple Cider Vinegar

Today was an easy breezy day!  After yesterday’s fail, I thought today would still be a little rough.  It’s like my energy powers recharged over night.  I made sure to keep on schedule with my juices and water the best that I could.  I massaged for 2 hours today and was good.  Didn’t feel weak at all.  Also, this was the day that I start reintroducing food in my diet.  I am able to eat whole fruits and vegetables.  Since yesterday I broke down and ate something yesterday, I didn’t want to eat too much today.  I just wanted to focus more on juicing.  That is why I waited to eat the Cucumbers and tomatoes.

Today I was able to introduce eggs, rice, beans, wheat bread & etc to my diet.  I didn’t go to hard or heavy because I didn’t want any stomach problems.  So I decided to stay light.  My energy level is amazing and I feel like I am very light.  Also, when I ate the two sandwiches, I felt satisfied and not overly full.  Did not have any hunger cravings and felt I didn’t really have to eat the apple and grapes later that night.  Everything held me over once I went out.  I was able to hold on to myself and not order a drink and only had water.   Since we were celebrating my friend’s birthday, they took shoots and my shot was orange juice… That is the only treat I gave myself. lol   Afterwards, I stopped and picked up a Spinach, Mushroom, Tomato, Onion & Swiss Cheese Egg White Omelet.

Day 6 & 7

My Juices were mainly done in the morning and they were about the same ingredients & times as above.  I did some juicing throughout the day because I had the taste for juice.  Drunk plenty of water.   Also, ate whole fruits and vegetables throughout the day.   On Day 6, that night, I ate a veggie taco, spicy tilapia taco, & two pieces of Chicken & Goat Cheese Quesadilla.  Day 7, I had mozzarella on toasted wheat bread & tomato soup.  I did have some juices throughout the day and ate a salad that night.

My Weight after Detox -148.4 lbs

*I did not do this for weight loss purposes.  My main purpose was to rid my body of all the toxins and gain more energy*

Make sure you have the time and energy to do this detox.  First it will have you running to the bathroom many times a day.  I would suggest the first 3 days that you do it, make sure you are not doing anything strenuous and really just stay at home.  I noticed my skin glowing more, energy levels are high, feel lighter and wake up in the mornings feeling renewed.  As long as I drink water and eat like I am supposed to, I don’t have those bad food cravings for desserts or just food.  I am going to be more aware of what I am putting in my body.

To sum up the Juice Detox, I really am glad I stuck with it and completed this journey.  This was very difficult and I had to constantly talk myself out of eating and getting my mind right.  I feel like if I can make it through this, which food is my weakness, I can make it through anything.  I absolutely love the way that I feel and now its time to go hardcore in the gym.   My plans are to continue eating clean and not stopping now because it is the end of the detox.  I came across this 21 day cleanse that starts on August 5th by Simple Green Smoothies.  Akina and I will be doing this plus an everyday workout routine.
